laconic

adjective

(of a person, speech, or style of writing) using very few words

The word laconic is derived from a region in ancient Greece called Laconia, where the Spartans used to reside. Spartans were known for being great warriors and extremely wise. However, very few people knew of the latter. Whenever someone would try to ridicule a Spartan, they would always reply with a witty comment, with as few words as possible.
